“I read a book one day and my whole life was changed.” – Orhan Pamuk.

The Calhoun County Community Foundation announces the placement of 10 "Free Little Libraries" throughout the county. Several months ago, Ladonna Kelley reached out to Foundation Chair, Jami Joe with the idea. It was a project Kelley had been wanting to do for quite some time. With the newly formed foundation wanting to move quickly with their first project, the Little Libraries were the perfect solution! The libraries were built by Craig and Jami Joe and placed around the county over the Christmas holiday. Signage for each library has been ordered and will be distributed in the coming months.

Little Libraries are a great way to promote not only reading, but the honor system as well. They provide free books (provided through donations) for the public, on the notion that those books will be returned without damage for others to enjoy.

Free Little Libraries provide easy access to books for citizens of ALL ages.

Take a book and/or give a book! Help keep them stocked by donating any books you no longer need. You can place them directly inside one of the boxes or if there isn't any room you can contact Ladona Kelley directly to make a donation. Help keep them maintained by watering the flower boxes, keeping them clear of trash & debris, and by reporting any damages to a Community Foundation member.

Please take photos of yourself and/or your children using the Little Libraries and post on Instagram and Facebook with the Hashtag #CalCoLittleLibraries Be sure to tag the Calhoun County Community Foundation in your images too! @CalhounCountyCF
